I later realised the essense of the idea and how i would incorporate this in a final piece. the relation with the oyster card and the hand, is like a completion of a journey. the primary objective of the hand theme was to express the hand via different objects. from doing this the hand is more than just a hand, and is objectified via the paired object. in this sense there is also a dynamic balance in the photo. the idea of the oyster card, sums up the journey in which the hand takes, the oyster card representing journey in itself.
In order to reach the final piece i decide i would experiment with different angles, and vary the dynamics of the hand, aiming to accumulate peace in within the frame, creating an aesthetically pleasing and highly defined quality picture.
If you notice i am wearing gloves in the photo, this is simply because this was my initial idea and may be the turn i take when creating the final piece. i quite like the idea of a glove as it adds to the journey theme, furthermore its much more aesthetically pleasing. further it seems conventionally 'cool'.
the photos i took are all close up which is a variable which wont change as this defeats the very object of this photography. the camera angels vary from high to low capturing the oyster card in different light saturations.
I particularly like this photo on the right, as it seems to have positive fung shway. the is also a positive sense of movement. because the photo is divided into three sections, the glove, the card and the open space on the right. this picture is aesthetic enough to be a final piece, however the background is full of clutter which is an advantage in a way because it emphasizes the had and card because its out of focus. However, the background is very unattractive, as a plane background might have done better, moreover an outdoor background would work together with the theme of a journey.
This photo is much more abstract than the others, and could be a possible outcome as the quality is very definitive however the is an unbalanced weight in the frame as the hand takes up almost of space, however this works well to create a certain traveling effect. as you can barely see the oyster center so the hand works as a sort of tunnel with the card passing through as a train. furthermore the segregation between the blue half of the card and the green half creates the balance which wasn't there previously.
After taking several photos with my gloves i decided to take a few with my hands. this proved very effective. as the quality of definition became much higher.
taking the photos with my hands exposed, creates a new layer of aesthetics which couldn't be achieved otherwise and in this way, the attention in the fame is always focused on the hand.
these photos proved very inspiring as to what should be done for my final piece. especially this last one which has a high level of quality definition. however, i realize that the oyster card does take up a fair amount in each of the frames, which ruins the very objective which is hand related. the oyster shouldn't take up more than a quarter of the frame. furthermore, there is also a face within the frames, which also is an attention grabber, as this is what the eyes are drawn to in any picture. this shouldn't be visible in the final outcome.
Praise, Your blog is organised and reflective. Now you need to show growth and more investigation. I want you to blog:
ReplyDelete- the feedback you got from Roman
- more pics of hands (but not with your gloves). Instead try photos from different angles, with different lighting, different hands
- add one more photographer that can help you finalise your work
Add photos and info the photographer that Roman showed the class.
